I love to eat. I am pretty much always hungry. That can be a huge problem! Overeating can lead to weight gain! So, I had to find a way that I could eat A LOT of food without gaining A LOT of weight!
That’s one thing I absolutely LOVE about following a vegan and plant-based diet — I can eat tons and tons of food and not gain weight. This is because the foods I am eating are not very calorically dense.
Research has shown that we tend to eat the same quantity of food every day, regardless of how many calories it contains. So, if you choose calorically dense foods (things with lots of fat and sugar, junk food, fast food, animal products, etc) you will over consume calories every day and gain weight.
But, if you choose whole plant foods like vegetables, fruits, beans, and whole grains, you can eat the same bulk of food and consume just a fraction of the calories. Your stomach fills up before you’ve consumed too many calories. It’s like being at an all-you-can-eat buffet and not having to worry about your belt tightening! In fact, if you’re like me, eating this way will actually help you to lose weight 🙂
